International Day of Peace

On September 21st of each year, we participate in the United Nations' International Day of Peace, which is celebrated by millions of people throughout the world (www.internationaldayofpeace.org).   Today at 10am, all of our students (Toddlers through Middle School)  joined together in our annual silent peace walk around the school. Middle School students led the walk, carrying the peace dove that was created by students a few years ago. Toddler & Early Childhood students created peace pinwheels, and "planted" them in the gardens. Lower Elementary students wrote peaceful messages on streamers to plant, and Upper Elementary students created peace wreaths.…

Elementary & Middle School Fall Campout

Great turnout for the EL/Middle School campout/potluck! Thanks to everyone who came up for dinner & to camp overnight and brave the thunderstorms! What a fun evening with friends, old & new!
It takes a village to a raise a child... Join other MCS families for a picnic and fishing at Silver Lake. Take Big Cottonwood Canyon Road to the top, follow the signs to the Silver Lake Visitors Center.  Park at the Visitor's Center. Bring your lunch and rod and fish from the boardwalk.  Not a fisherman, walk the boardwalk through the wetlands or hike to Solitude Lake after we eat. Join us and let's have some fun!

Join us for a hike to Willow Heights Lake and a BYOPicnic! Park at Solitude Ski Resort.  The trailhead is across Big Cottonwood Canyon Road, opposite the resort entrance. Hike details: 2-mile hike roundtrip; protected watershed, no dogs permitted; no restroom or water; mostly shaded, 675 foot elevation gain, paved hiking surface, then dirt to meadow and lake. MCS Family Day Carnival

MCS Family Day Carnival Friday, June 3rd, 6 - 8 pm The MCS Family Day Carnival is always an incredibly fun way for students and families to celebrate the end of the school year ... great food, friends, inflatables, games, face painting & balloon artists! The Elementary & Middle School Cultural Fair was held on April 15th, 2011 in the school gymnasium. We had a great turnout of families and the students were excited to show what they’ve learned. Thank you everyone! Our Lower Elementary students focused on Europe, with each student writing a report, developing a 3-D outline map and a cultural display on their country.  Our Upper Elementary students wrote reports and developed PowerPoint slides and projects related to the Vikings as part of their world history studies.   Our Middle School students have had a dual focus to their research this year, which…

MCS Children's Clothing Swap

Our Green Committee is hosting our second annual MCS Children's Clothing Swap, and this year they are including a children’s book exchange.  Collection bins will be available in the lobby starting this Wednesday, April 6.  The swap will be set up in the gym from April 27-29 during school hours for parents to browse and take items (equivalent to the amount of clothing donated).   Clothing, shoes and books should be in gently used condition, free from stains and tears/rips/fraying.
