Service Learning at the BUG Farm
Thursday a group of our Upper Elementary students went to help weed at one of the "BUG (Backyard Urban Gardens) Farms,” which is operated by Sharon Leopardi. They will offer their services once a week over the next four weeks, Sharon borrows space in several people's yards to plant and cultivate organic vegetables. She gives a share of the produce to the owners of the space that she uses, sells some produce to local restaurants and sells shares for the rest of the produce. Sharon also keep chickens and sells eggs.
